The world is at risk. We have been hearing this a lot over the last few years. Global Warming, Climate Change, temperature rising, oceans rising, ice melting, species dying, deserts growing... we are bombarded with doomsday news on a nearly daily basis. You can't watch the news, or read a newspaper without hearing something about the end of the world as we know it.
Its so much that we are all starting to become overloaded and a bit numb, allocating climate change to a back corner of our mind. After all its something affecting each of us, sure, but not something we can really fix by ourselves. Easier to nod our heads and hope for the best.
Or is it?
For real change to happen it has to start with each of us individually. Yes, one voice alone won't make a difference, but when raised in a chorus all together we can shake the very heavens.
What will it take to bring on real change? Well-wishing and talk of better ways are not enough. Each of us must get behind the idea, each of us individuals, politicians and corporations. But even that will not be enough. We all live in the real world and deal with the realities of the societies, cultures and economies we have built. The reality is that until it becomes profitable to be green, until the environment has a tangible, measurable value a corporation, business or politician can understand change will not happen.
So it falls to each of us to find ways to make it make business sense. Make being green a profitable thing. GroPower Inc. was started on that basis - to profit naturally.
We developed our business strategy around 3 principles:
We believe that we can make a difference, and that so can everyone else. Raise your voice with us and stand for change. Start with small things, turn off the lights when you are not using them. Buy carbon offsets. If you are an investor then invest in companies that take environmental responsibility seriously, use your investment dollar to cast a vote for the future.
Perhaps most importantly of all: Don't allow your self to become numb. Don't let the climate change overload stop you from listening and trying to change. Don't let the constant news bombardment make it all feel hopeless, because until we give up hope is not lost.
