GroPower EV's

GroPower is producing a specialised EV for public transportation. Designed to replace vehicles called trikes the GroPower EV's perform better, are more efficient and reduce the environmental footprint by 40%. Called the Electric Eagle trike; the vehicles produced by GroPower combat a major global and local problem: pollution.

Trikes are vehicles made for short distance transportation, usually 4 kilometers or less. They are motorcycles with specially built side cars and are used to carry up to 4 passengers. They service the side roads, neighborhoods and villages and operate on routes established by the government. The number of vehicles plying each route is limited by government issued franchises; each franchise issued allows one vehicle to operate in a specified district or zone.

Trikes have a top speed of less than 40kmh empty and with full loads crawl along at 18-22kmh. They produce as much air pollution as 5 mid sized automobiles! The reason the amount pollution produced is so large has to do with a few different factors.

1. On average a trike is 5-15 years old with over half of them older than 10 years.
2. They are poorly maintained as the operator of the vehicles cannot afford the cost of regular maintenance
3. Most tricycles burn a mixture of petrol and motor oil. The motor oil is added to help the old, poorly maintained engines run smoothly but has the side effect of dramatically increasing the pollution.

The air pollution produced is actually of 2 kinds. Approximately 5 tons of greenhouse gases a year are produced for each trike plus an additional 2-3 tons of smog forming pollution. This equates to approximately 8 million tons a year of global impacting greenhouse gases for the 1.5 million trikes in the Philippines and an additional 4-5 million tons of local air pollution contributing to poor air quality.

As if the pollutants were not enough the trikes operate at 88-93 dB. With hearing loss beginning at 80dB the operators of the vehicles are slowly going deaf.

The Electric Vehicles produced by GroPower reduce or eliminate all of these problems. A nice side effect is the lowered operating costs translating directly into increased take home income for the operators of the vehicles. Because GroPower's vehicles are designed to be electric they are extremely light weight and efficient; the daily energy cost is approximately 20-40% less than what the trike drivers are currently spending on petrol.

GroPower is dedicated to making the adoption of the new electric vehicles as effortless as possible. To that end provide specialised depots within each area of operation where the drivers can replace exhausted batteries for fully recharged ones in a matter of minutes. Our strategy ensures that the electric vehicles are never more than 3 kilometers distant from the depots carrying the fully charged batteries. We also provide full support and road side assistance for every vehicle we produce.
