Pollution Profile Philippines

Based on 1994 figures provided by the United Nations its estimated the Philippines produces 100+ Mt of Greenhouse gases each year. In actuality the number is far worse as the country has experienced a burst of development and an increase in population over the last 14 years.

Aside from greenhouse gases the Philippines has one of the worst air quality index ratings in the world. It is estimated that as much as 60% or more of the emissions stem from mobile sources. In otherwords, cars, trucks and buses etc.

In Manila alone its estimated that the poor air quality is directly responsible for as much as 450 million dollars a year in damages and over 2000 pollution related deaths.

Unfortunately, as is so often the case, the country is to poor to handle the burden alone. The government lacks the financial capacity to finance real change; preferring to focus on more immediate and tangible issues like education, fighting poverty, health and developing the technical and manufacturing capacity required to compete in the international marketplace.

Businesses prefer to avoid the upfront expenses associated with change and are slow to committ to changes unless their competitors move first. At the grassroots level much of the population lives on just a few dollars a day and cannot afford themselves to shoulder the costs required for change.

Despite this the environment continues to be a hot topic and cause for concern at all levels of society. From cleaner water to cleaner air the people are asking for improvements and the politicians are doing their best to provide them.

GroPower Inc., recognising the realities at work in the Philippines, has structured its business plan accordingly to allow change to become as easy as saying "yes". We then go the extra mile and provide all the support needed to ensure that, long term, the change from ICE to EV continues to be as effortless and profitable as possible for all involved.
